LOCATION 6501 Pohick Bay Drive (Please see specific directions above) You will not actual enter the park you will take left turn on a gravel road prior to entering the park (just prior to Fire House) Lorton NOTE: If you pass the Fire House turn around and take gravel road just before Fire House, Virginia 22079 DESCRIPTION

Beautification of God's creation at Pohick Bay Park. We will remove invasive plants in a beautiful setting along the shoreline facing the marsh. We will be removing the plant kudzu from the shoreline. This is a harmless plant to humans, it is bad for other plants in the ecosystem as it prevents them from getting the oxygen they need. Please wear boots or old shoes as they could get a little muddy. If you have a pair of work gloves you may bring them along, otherwise we will provide for you. Also please bring some water to drink. The park will provide tools for us to use (rakes, hoes, shovels, etc.). This is very beneficial to the Park and the Park is grateful for our Service. Please try to arrive by 0745 if possible, we will have a short hike to the site. Please see directions below as provided by the Park Manager. Please call me if you have any questions or concerns (703) 220-1770. You may also contact Gene Hawking (561) 843-0822. Thank you for Serving ! Summit Church - Jim The location you all would arrive to for the invasive project would be at the back of Camp Wilson which is located approximately a half mile prior to the park entrance, and it is the left turn immediately prior to fire station as you come down Gunston Rd. towards Pohick Bay. Once individuals make the turn, they would proceed along that entrance road for approximately ¾ of a mile ending at our large storage facility located on your left. From there the start of the service road is about 50 yards further on your left. Participants would walk down to the removal site from that point. If you use Google Maps you will be able to see Camp Wilson. Gene and I will be onsite that morning and will ensure everyone gets to where they need. It is about a five minute walk from Camp Wilson. This work is challenging, but very beneficial to the park's ecosystem. You will be doing God's work.
